Do you enjoy playing your music but want to explore new horizons — out of curiosity or because you feel stuck, like you're always playing the same things?
A key answer lies in the harmonization of musical scales: in other words, which chords you can play over the notes of a scale.
With the ARN-Music Apps, discovering harmonization is immediate, and you can instantly apply it on your instrument. Give it a try!
No subscriptions — a one-time purchase, yours forever!
Perfect for composers, self-taught musicians, students, and teachers.
Over 160 scales preloaded, and you can harmonize all the other scales too.
ARN-Music 3 Harmonization by Triads
ARN-Music 3 focuses on harmonization using triads (three-note chords). It is the simplest and most affordable app in the collection, intended as a first approach to harmonization — yet already very comprehensive.
ARN-Music 3-4 Harmonization with Triads and Tetrads
ARN-Music 3-4 covers both triads and tetrads (four-note chords) and is the most complete general-purpose app.
ARN G6 3-4 Harmonization with Triads and Tetrads
ARN-Music G6 3-4 is designed for 6-string guitar and 6-string bass players, showing chord shapes directly on the fretboard.
ARN B5 3-4 Harmonization with Triads and Tetrads
ARN-Music B5 3-4 is designed for 5-string bass and 5-string guitar.
ARN B4 3-4 Harmonization with Triads and Tetrads
ARN-Music B4 3-4 is designed for the 4-string bass.
- Start with the chords, look at how they are built, try moving the 3rd and 5th degrees to see what happens, or select the chords from the list
- Choose a chord, and apply it to all the notes of your instrument, repeat that for each chord
- Then move on to the musical scales: start with a scale you already know (or start with the Major Scale) to connect your knowledge to the concept of the App, look at the disposition of the chords
- Play the scale and the chords of the scale. If your instrument is not designed to play chords, play the arpeggios
- Create chord progressions using the circle of fifths
- Then explore the whole world of musical scales!
You can use another approach too:
- Play a melody you like on your instrument
- Transpose the notes in degrees (the tonic is always 1)
- Select the degrees on the App
- You'll have instantly the possible chords for your melody!
- You can then add some degrees for more or richer chords

What is the difference between ARN-Music 3, ARN-Music 3-4, G6, B5, and B4?
ARN-Music 3 focuses on harmonization using triads (three-note chords). It is the simplest and most affordable app in the collection, intended as a first approach to harmonization — yet already very comprehensive.
ARN-Music 3-4 covers both triads and tetrads (four-note chords) and is the most complete general-purpose app.
ARN-Music G6 3-4 is designed for 6-string guitar and 6-string bass players, showing chord shapes directly on the fretboard.
ARN-Music B5 3-4 is tailored for 5-string bass and 5-string guitar.
ARN-Music B4 3-4 is designed for the classic 4-string bass.
If you play guitar or bass, choose the app for your instrument. If you play another instrument (piano, synth, flute, saxophone, voice, etc.), ARN-Music 3-4 is the recommended starting point.
If I buy an app, can I use it on all my Apple devices?
Yes. Once purchased, the app is available on all your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and Mac) signed in with the same Apple ID, at no extra cost.
Do I need a music theory background to use the apps?
Not necessarily. The apps are designed to be intuitive and visual — you can start exploring scales and chords immediately, even with limited theory knowledge. The educational articles on the website (degrees, intervals, circle of fifths) are a helpful starting point if you want to build some context before diving in.
Do the apps work with any musical instrument?
ARN-Music 3 and ARN-Music 3-4 are instrument-agnostic: they show scale harmonization in a universal way, suitable for any instrument — piano, synthesizer, all types of keyboards, flute, saxophone, voice, and more. The G6, B5, and B4 apps are specifically designed for guitar and bass, displaying chord fingerings directly on the fretboard.
Do the apps produce audio, or are they visual tools only?
The apps are primarily visual tools. They display scale structures, chord harmonizations, and — for guitar and bass versions — fretboard diagrams. They do not generate audio playback.
Do the apps support dark mode?
Yes, you can switch to dark mode directly within the app.
On my iOS device, how long before the screen turns off (goes to standby)?
When you are using the app on iOS, your screen will NEVER go to standby. You won't need to tap the screen to keep your device awake.
Can I save and share what I create with the app?
Yes — with the exception of ARN-Music 3, all apps are specifically designed to save and share sessions. You can resume your work later, export the session file to use it on another device, or share it with another user.
What are the downloadable Sessions, and how do I use them?
Sessions are preset configurations for the ARN-Music apps, preloaded with specific scales, chords, or chord progressions. Instead of building everything from scratch, you can download a session file and open it directly in the app to start exploring a topic immediately. They are free and available on the Downloads page.
Are the apps updated regularly?
Yes, the apps are actively maintained and updated. Updates are delivered through the Apple App Store and are free for existing users.
How can I get support if I have a question or a problem?
You can reach the ARN-Music team at:
Is _ZABLUEORTIS integrated into the apps, or is it only a theoretical system on the website?
Both. _ZABLUEORTIS is used within the ARN-Music apps to name scales that are not in the standard preloaded list. When you create a custom scale by selecting degrees manually, the app generates its _ZABLUEORTIS name automatically — so you can always save and retrieve it precisely.
Is _ZABLUEORTIS an internationally recognized system, or is it exclusive to ARN-Music?
_ZABLUEORTIS was conceived by Nicolas Augsburger Rossi in 2022 and is an original creation of ARN-Music. It is currently the only biunivocal (one-to-one) system for naming all musical scales with a name that directly encodes the scale's structure — no translation needed. It is not yet an official standard, but it is designed to be universal and language-independent.
